How to use the delay calculator

  1. Enter your song tempo in BPM.
  2. Choose the note division that matches the rhythmic feel you want.
  3. Copy the millisecond value into your delay, echo or reverb plug-in.
Quarter note (ms) = 60,000 ÷ BPM

Why tempo-synced effects matter

Timing delay and pre-delay to the song grid helps echoes support the groove instead of masking transients or building unnecessary mud.

How this tool is checked

Quarter-note time is calculated as 60,000 ÷ BPM; each note value applies a documented multiplier, and frequency is 1,000 ÷ milliseconds. Reference cases at 60, 120 and 240 BPM are checked after calculation changes.

The values are mathematically tempo-synced starting points. Reverb and delay settings still need to be adjusted by ear for the source, arrangement and plug-in.
